Whineaws pt.2

Anyone see last weeks Never Mind The Buzzcocks? No? Well for a start, why the fuck not? Simon Amstel (sp?) is hilarious and he has silly hair you can laugh at when he's not being funny. Happy Days as Phil Tufnell says while accepting money for advertising Loan sharks. Last weeks Buzzcocks was real car crash telly. Why? Well, unfortunately because Amy Winehouse was on it. I made a big thing about her being very funny indeed when she was on the show a few years back, and was really looking forward to the show when I found out she was a guest again. Oh dear oh dear oh dear... What a terrible fucking shame. She's an utter pisshead. I thought 'Rehab' (which is still a great song) was supposed to be a testament to her getting her shit together by herself. Wrong! It's obviously about her being totally in denial. I was gutted. She still shone for odd moments, but seeing her ask the host if she could please have another drink was a particular low. I like, no, I love drinking. Sometimes I worry I drink too much. Then I see people who really do drink too much and I stop worrying about it. It's a shame to see such a talented person chuck it down the shitter. She's like Pete Doherty but with really really nice tits. Ah well.

Check this out for more car crash TV. This is Ames at the end of the Charlotte Church show (the best part of the Charlotte Church show, this being the best of the best, it was also the end of the series) duetting with the Welsh wonder on a cover of Billy Jean by some kiddy fiddler. Spot the pisshead.

Nice! You can watch Buzzcocks online. Which I is doing now on your recommendation!

Yes, I did watch Amy on your recommendation and was sad - I'm kind of fond of her. Not so much because of her boobs (which seem to be disappearing, maybe because of her liquid diet) but because I feel an affinity for big-nosed North London Jewish gals. I felt mortified for her - like seeing your drunk friend think they're being really funny when they're just being really drunk.

You actually watched the Charlotte Church show?

Exx

I saw it too - it was pretty cringeworthy. Like Annie, although minus the Jewishness, I felt a North(East) London affinity with her, but she really blew it.

I'm still deciding about Simon Amstel - he looks too young to be quite so bitter! ;) But he does come out with some funny stuff

Mark, didn't know you could get Buzzcocks online. I'll bear that in mind for the next time I (inevitably) miss it.

Annie: I feel your pain I don't like her just for her boobs. They're just two more reasons to like a funny and talented woman. Seeing her wreck herself in public is sad as hell.

E: No mate, I don't watch the Charlotte Church show, someone recommended I type the words winehouse - drunk - church into youtube.

Anx: I thought he (Amstel) was a good choice from the start. He used to be a completely sarcastic bastard on popworld. :)

Popworld has gone from can't miss TV to can't stand TV for me :(

The Sunday morning sarcasm was great hangover tv before but it seems smug and pointless now.

Well I didn't watch it, cos its not on France! I also had never heard of this amy pissedhouse, I had to look her up in wikipedia, where I found this great quote (and drink to try):

Winehouse's favourite cocktail is a Rickstasy (three parts vodka, one part Southern Comfort, one part banana liqueur, and one part Baileys). “By the time you’ve had two of them you’re like, don’t even try and go anywhere. Sit down and stay down, until the birds start singing.”

I'm not sure I would be standing after one.

I like new Pop World !

I also feel that I should mention it's not Billie Jean in that Charlotte Church clip, it's Beat It. Although it may morph into the other song at the end, its not like I watched it all the way through.

Andre: Cheers for the recipe, and seriously check out her tunes. If you like old soul you'll love what she's doing.

SM: I stand corrected. It is, of course Beat It. Jack Michaelson's songs all sound the same to me.

(actually Beat it's not all that bad really)
