Told you I was Ill

This has been the heaviest cold I've ever had. I'm not kidding. I think I'm over the worst of it now, I'd say it was almost Flu it was that strong. For the last few days I've been barely able to drag myself out of bed. The Breadknife's been the same. We'd have been fucked if it wasn't for the little Fella going to nursery cos we have no one to help out. No one! That's when you realise how isolated you really are. There's just the three of us. No family within a hundred miles, no friends that'd be ready to drop everything to help out (funny how we always were though) Last night I collapsed in the bathroom. One second taking a piss, the next taking a dive. Smacked me head against the door as I went down too. The Bread was beside herself with worry especially as she couldn't get into the bathroom to see how I was until I'd come round. God I felt like absolute shite. Sweat was pouring off of me, my arms had gone numb, my perception was all over the place. To think I used to pay good money to feel like that. I'm relieved to say I feel much better now, but it still concerns me how alone we are.

Glad you feel better mate.

Easy answer - move to Kent. Then me and the missus can look after the three of you!

Sounds good. Are they still doing two for one at the curry house? :D

Rad, in the last century it was more common for three or more generations to live together under one roof, so you always had a built-in care system. After WWII, we began to gravitate to separate homes, but most of us still lived fairly close to our families.

Now, we're much more more removed from the help we need, as we move to different parts of the world, or at least, away from where we were raised. I think we need to reconsider the choices we're making.

A report was issued this week that states that Britain and the US have the worst records of 21 wealthy countries concerning the care of their children, and I think this lack of support system is one of the underlying causes for our problems.

Ahem....sorry about the soap box.

I hope you're feeling better, and that you consider danny black's suggestion. *G*

Buffy: I'd have been told it was a virus, and to let it take its course.

... which is one of the (many) reasons why we're moving back to Hampshire, near to friends and family.

Take it easy, fella. I really hope you're better soon.

Hope you're feeling a lot better now mate - I had a similar bout a couple of years back, and there's nothing worse than passing out when you're trying to have a pee...

i still pay good money to feel like that, so i'm completely jealous ;)

Thats bad mate. Its not like the old days when all your friends and neighbours rally round. Imagine when the pandemic arrives and 30% of the population are struck down?

Rad said...

Anx: I read that was going to happen. Congratulate Big from me.

Bod: Thanks mate. I know you would have.

Rol: The only upside is I'd finished. Either that or some kind of hysterical bladder control took over. I certainly didn't wake up stinking like a pensioner.

Dan Martin: Great story mate. Stick around.

Furtive: I think the Bread (who is a nurse) may well object to the nurse uniform.

Cel: London? At my age? :D

AnonyMissE: Ta luv

Andre: You're a cheery bugger ain't ya! :D

Bloody hell that's a big reply to everyone. Don't you cunts realise I'm ill? ;)

C: We're slowly recovering. The lethargy and general feelings of lurgeeness are showing no sign of disappearing.
